Dr. Tso-Ying Lee, Ph.D.

Speaker's Biography
Dr. Tso-Ying Lee is the Director of Nursing Department of Cheng-hsin
General Hospital and the Vice Chairman of the International Nursing Information
Society. She has been engaged in clinical nursing practice for nearly 40 years
and continuously participates in the development of nursing informatics
systems, including nursing personnel system, performance system, shifting
system, and nursing care planning system in Tri-Services General Hospital. Dr.
Lee took the on-job advanced training in informatic courses in the United
States in 1989. From 2008 till now, she serves in Cheng-hsin General Hospital,
where she assists in hospital information system development such as NIS
system, barcode scanning, and physiological data transfer, etc. Dr. Lee now
teaches nursing information at the Research Institute of National Taipei
Nursing Health University. She is dedicated to cultivating professional nursing
informatics and promoting the connection between Taiwan and international
nursing informatics specialists.

Abstract
The development of technology in the 21st century is an era of
cross-domain applications. The introduction of technology can strengthen the
application of nursing professions and improve the quality of patient care or
limit the development of nursing work and lose the humanistic care ability are
worth reflecting. In this session, Dr. Lee will present the importance of
nursing technology in the current care process, the latest development trend of
nursing technology. Then introduce EMR (Electronic Medicine), IOT (Internet of
Things), interoperability systems (Connected health), BI (Business
Intelligence), AI (Artificial Intelligence; Precision Medicine), and robot
(Economic Medicine) applications. What challenges may face in the development
of nursing technology? What are the benefits of developing nursing technology
and patient safety? Last, she will share Taiwan's experience in cultivating
nursing technology talents. Through the discussion of the interaction between
technology and nursing professions to understand the significance of technology
applied on patient care.
