High Reliability and AI in Patient Safety and Quality
Abstract
The lecture reviews the fundamental underpinnings for developing a strong patient safety and quality program, then provides a focus on the future:
Remote patient monitoring (RPM) for the entire hospital to home continuum, including Modified Early Warning System (MEWS) tools, designed to provide early warning for patients with declining physiological status. The lecture will also emphasize the use of non-invasive monitoring systems:
• Continuous pulse oximetry with advanced (rainbow) capabilities
• Continuous hemoglobin concentration monitoring
• Plesthmographic variability index (PVi) as an early warning of deterioration.
• Along with artificial intelligence and
Audio-video monitoring to supplement RPM.
